What We Do
Taking Root Garden Design (TRGD) is a garden design and landscape planning practice located in Western Massachusetts. TRGD offers services for a wide range of clients, including residential, commercial, and institutional. TRGD is committed to sustainability through education and finding solutions that integrate client and ecological functions and needs.
Creating spaces of beauty and function that are in harmony with the natural world are the driving force behind all the work that Kristin does. Landscapes are for living and enjoying; they are for beauty and for the use of those who call them home, whether that be a young child exploring their world, an adult looking to connect with the outdoors, or local wildlife building their home. TRGD works to create life and beauty in the everyday spaces of live.
Who We Are
Kristin Thomas, M.A. Landscape Design
Kristin Thomas has an extensive background in landscape design and horticulture, with over twenty years in the industry. Kristin received her M. A. in Sustainable Landscape Planning and Design from the Conway School of Landscape Design and her B.S. from the School of Natural Resources at the University of Vermont. She has designed landscapes throughout Boston, the Berkshires, the Pioneer Valley, and Burlington, Vermont. Kristin has diverse plant knowledge of native and ornamental species and a keen eye for creating harmonious landscapes. Writing, teaching, and speaking are included in her expertise.
